Version 34 Stable

Post by Grumpy »

For what this is worth....

Success!!!
Today we have 2 XP1130 pilots and 4 FSX guys.
Everybody can see everybody.

the following is what we have found that works FOR US
  1. Do not use a specific port.
On startup of a NEW version, bring up the Hub List and select your preferred hub and press join.
Only have to do THAT once after a new version.
Go into the network permissions area and only allow a UDP pass through to JFS. It does not need tcp/ip
What more could one ask for? Kudos awards go to Pete.
Many Many thanks, Peter, for doing all this work.

Best wishes and congrats from the Team at Flybywires.net

It has been very stable for me as well. P3D Works great. How do you get XP11 to work in terms of showing other aircraft?

Thanks!

Just make sure you add some AI aircraft to the flight configuration in X-Plane and disable other multiplayer plugins such as XSquawkBox. You should see them then.

Thank you Peter will try that. Will it work if we disable plugins in the sim or do we need to remove the folders for like PilotEdge, XSB, etc. Looking forward to one day seeing CSL. Thank you for your work and dedication to this!!!

THATS what I forgot to mention, you need the AI traffic, one AI for every person in your flight group.

If you want to broadcast a recording to the others, don't you need a TCP pass through also?

No UDP only, using TCP/UPD will cause connection problems. I speak from experience :)

Hi Matt,

This relates the port forwarding settings within your router. I would advise try searching on youtube how setup forwarding for your specific router, as they are all slightly different how to access the security settings.

Rgr, Thanks Darren,

Thats what I thought, just wanted to check there wasn't a setting in joinfs :)

Last Night our flight sim group wanted to changed from FShost to Joinfs so that some of the guys can fly Xplane and some P3D/FSX.

It didn't work out well. Tried 3 hours troubleshooting.

1.) When we tried to connect using my private login, I have two greens and the others had green on Sim and red on network.
2.) Then two others tried the same with the same result.
3.) We tried linking to different HUBS (I hope that is ok (Digitialthemepark) and I cant remember the other). Only two of us could see each other.
4.) I had to make sure I had AI on at least 8 as there was 8 of us.
5.) I have to set all model matching to laminar aircraft only. Mine then worked!

Our sim group has been going 10 years and we really want to progress using joinfs. Is there an upto date version .34 tutorial? To see if i'm not missing anything. My IT knowledge is relativity good.

I have seen HUB mode which I am going to try next.

We have 5 guys on Xplane 11
3 on Prepar3dv4
2 on FSX steam (didnt join last night to test)

Our page is http://swfsg.blogspot.com/

Anyone who can help with a quick would be VERY MUCH appreciated.

Thanks

Hi Matt,

Do you see everyone else shown as connected in the user list? Is everyone joining the same address? And does the router at that address have port forwarding enabled?

Hi Peter

Thanks for your support! And might I add what an amazing piece of software!

I can confirm that tonight's meet up was VERY successful.

5 Guys on Xplane and 2 on P3D. We all met at EGHY Airfield and could see each other, at the correct level!

1.) Observations two were using 1.4.33 and five using 1.4.34. No issues!
2.) I tried to create my own HUB as we will be using joinfs every Tuesdau. No one could see my HUB?
3.) All connected to DigitalThemePark, no problem everyone can see each other.
4.) Cannot create own session by giving out my number?

Thanks

You’ll need to enable port forwarding on your router. First, change your PC network settings to use a static IP instead of DHCP, for example, 192.168.0.5. Then log into your router and set up port forwarding, UDP-only on port 6112 to your PC address.

Others should now be able to connect to you directly or using your hub. It may take several minutes for your hub to appear in the list.
