SIMCOM X Voice application
Re: SIMCOM X Voice application

Damn. Exactly right. On top of that I'm using ProSim A320 in a full sim, so the auto frequency tuning is important.
FSUIPC appears to be the solution.
Thanks - I'll keep you updated.

Re: SIMCOM X Voice application
I added a Log file a few versions back.
If you are the data I'm looking at, it seems that Simcom X isn't connecting to your sim.
This is resulting in the frequency fetched being blank.
Simcom X sees your Blank frequency and tunes you to 122.800.
The log file is in Program Files(x86)/simcomx called Log.txt
If you post the contents I'll have a look.
The latest version Shouldl now tell you if you haven't got the Xpack of Simconnect installed.

Roo!
Sorry! I forgot to ask - how much work (or is it even possible) to allow VHF 2 (Com 2) to be used for SimComX?
Best,
Paul

Re: SIMCOM X Voice application
There seems to be a few things going on there, so I'll see if I can explain the issues.
Firstly have a look at the link below which explains simcom X in more detail.
https://dotdash.space/simcom-x-description/
You need to select your Speakers and Microphone from the drop down box if the Config menu.
It might seem simple, but not setting these can cause connection issues.
You will need to login to your router and either enable Upnp or add UDP port 9988 to your port forward rules.
You are connected to FSUIPC.
So that's good as it shows it's getting the freq from your sim.
It's a freq you were hosting and it can get slightly confusing here, but basically it's because you haven't got Upnp enabled or port 9988 open.
It's something I'll have to correct in the code.
So from the Log above...
It looks like you need to set your Sound Devices and open UDP port 9988 or enable Upnp in your router.
Regarding Com 2...
That has already been added and if you have Com2 selected in your aircraft, the Com2 Active Freq is the frequency Simcom X uses.

Can't get SIMCOM X Voice application to work on my W10 PC
Hi Roo,
(I sent this issue to the email address on your website but got the response:
The recipient server did not accept our requests to connect. Learn more at https://support.google.com/mail/answer/7720 [dotdash.space 2606:4700:30::6812 timed out] [dotdash.space 2606:4700:30::6812 timed out] [dotdash.space 104.18.51.7: timed out] [dotdash.space 104.18.50.7: timed out] )
I can't get your app to work on my W10 PC.
I enabled the UPnP router option in the config and it starts okay, but it just keeps "Checking..." and reporting "Error removing Frequency!" when I click on the PWR.
It's unresponsive to any Window functions to shut it down. I Right Click the SIMCOMX Task Bar icon and select the "Close Window" option to close the app. This some times results in a JIT debugging message.
Below are screenshots illustrating the issue and detailing the messages displayed. I also have the SIMCOMX log.txt and JIT debugging messages files, but I can't add them as attachments to this post and their too long to add as text.
I don't think it's an issue because the problem persists when I turn it off, but I run Bit Defender Total Security with a firewall on my PC, in addition to the firewall on my internet router.
Can you please help?

I wonder if it's because you clicked the email picture I had on the old website to contact me?
There is a Contact Me link at the bottom of my current homepage https://dotdash.space if you would like to try that one.
This sounds like the app (Simcom X) is unable to connect to the internet.twodogzz wrote: I can't get your app to work on my W10 PC.
I enabled the UPnP router option in the config and it starts okay, but it just keeps "Checking..." and reporting "Error removing Frequency!" when I click on the PWR.
I cant read all the error that you've attached but..
"Client.Connection.Stop" is probably because there is no connection to stop.
If there is no internet it can't create a connection.
That said..
It should still be able to create a local (LAN) connection.
So I would assume something is stopping SimCom X from creating any kind of connection.
"Error removing frequency" also points to no connection.
Simcom X is unable to update the user list.
My money is on Bit Defender blocking SimCom X and SimCom X Server.twodogzz wrote: I don't think it's an issue because the problem persists when I turn it off, but I run Bit Defender Total Security with a firewall on my PC, in addition to the firewall on my internet router.

Check for those 2 in bit defender and allow them as ok.

Thanks for the advice. Unfortunately, the problem persists with all PC firewalls disabled and Modem / Router Firewall set to low security (basically allows most things through).
Port forwarding is with uPnP set in Simcom X and confirmed in my router settings as active.
I removed Bitdefender completely from my PC to ensure it wasn't the culprit and turned off Windows' Firewall!
I've sent the log.txt file to your email as suggested. Hopefully, you can identify the problem from that.ATC Roo wrote: There is a Contact Me link at the bottom of my current homepage https://dotdash.space if you would like to try that one.

Re: SIMCOM X Voice application
If anybody else has the above issue..
I'm looking into a fix at the moment.
There will be an update once I've found one.
Until then using the Join Group Server option and the address roo.servebeer.com in the IP box will allow you to test with others.

Re: SIMCOM X Voice application
An Update!
Since creating this app I've noticed some users having issues allowing others to connect to them.
I tried to help out by adding the status light showing if people could connect to them, but I still saw issues.
After twodogzz posted his issue above, we investigated and found that the SDK I am using for this app has an issue.
Theres a lot of issues going on here!
The SDK issue caused people to not accept a connection from others.
I have searched high and low for a solution to the SDK issue, but all I've found is other users with the same problem.
So what I've done in V1.3.0.0 is the following...
Any user that connects in SimCom X mode will be added to a list.
Already connected SimCom X clients will go through this list and validate a user that can be connected to.
Once a user has been validated they are added to a second list of known... lets call then Connectees.
Now when your SimCom X client tries to connect in Simcom X mode it will look through the Connectees list and randomly select one to connect to.
This (I HOPE) should mean that any user using SimCom X needn't worry if they have the relevant port open etc etc.
For this to work there still needs to be Connectees available, so please don't try and purposely block SimCom X thinking you're now not needed.
You are.
Each client can host up to 30 people.
So 2 clients available means 60 people can be hosted.
3 clients, 90 people etc etc.....
I hope this helps people that were having the red status light issue.
The status light will still show you if you can allow people to connect or not, but you should now always be able to join and host a frequency.
This method is experimental to me so Please let me know if you find issues.
And thank you twodogzz for your help diagnosing.

Re: SIMCOM X Voice application
Well I can see quite a few people now using SimCom X successfully.
I know people dont know what frequency others are using, so I would encourage people to use the Unicom frequency 122.800 when trying it out on their own.
As it's now working, I'm going to calm down on the updates.
I can see a few minor faults which I'm correcting one by one and will release updates with a number of issues corrected in each update.
Please let me know of any issues you find.
If I dont know about them, I cant fix them.

Open SIMCOM X
Click on OFF
Repeating Message." Trying to connect...." "Checking...." "Found!"
The OFF button indicates red and stays OFF, Sim indicates Offline (ok sim not running), Voice indicates red "Offline". Mode indicates red "None".
In addition, clicking on the Window close "x" or the OFF button does nothing.
To close the SIMCOM X window I have to right click the taskbar icon and click Close Window.
SIMCOMX displays the message Powering Down and a Microsoft .NET Framework Unhandled exception message window.
I click on "Quit" in the .NET message window and both windows close.
I sent the log.txt file to you via PM.

Re: SIMCOM X Voice application
Thank you.
I think I know what that is.
I experimented with something a few days ago, which I'll change back shortly.
Using SimCom X by connecting to a sim before then, may fix it.
No app update needed.

Re: SIMCOM X Voice application
Hi,
I'm having some trouble getting SimCom X to work in X-Plane (version 11.34r1 - build 113400 64-bit). See following images.
Image 1 - This is the current settings being used in SimCom X
Image 2 - When turning SimCom X on, it makes the connection to XP, but the COM1 channel frequency is not synchronizing correctly with the frequency set on the COM1 radio. In XP I've tuned the radio to Unicom 122.80, but in SimCom X the active frequency is shown as 121.800. Also when I switch the frequency in XP to 123.900 the active frequency in SimComX is not changed!
Image 3 - After a while I see error messages in SimCom X, like "Error adding user!" and "Error Removing user!".
I'm currently using version 2.0.3.8 64 bit of XPUIPC. Also in the firewall, I've forwarded port 9988 UDP to the local IP of the PC running XP and SimCom X.
What am I missing here? Thanks!
Kind regards,
Dave

I'm having some trouble getting SimCom X to work in X-Plane (version 11.34r1 - build 113400 64-bit). See following images.

Re: SIMCOM X Voice application
Thanks Dave.
I think I see the issue(s) but I'm not going to have time to fix them for a few days.
It looks like it's the "." "," separator that is used with certain language packs.
In some parts of the world a lat lon would be
52.123456 3.123456
in others...
52,123556 3,123456
I couldn't see in the log but this might be happening with the frequency too.
The distance option also wont work for you at the moment.
With distance and autoswitch unticked you'll be able to use simcom x until I can get an update out.

Re: SIMCOM X Voice application
Hi,
Thanks for your reply. So I modified the configuration with your tips and I'm also setting the com frequency manually in SimComX.
I'm still getting the "Error adding user!" messages though.
I'm also attaching the latest log files.
Any suggestions as to how I can resolve this? Thanks!
Kind regards

Re: SIMCOM X Voice application
Dont worry about that error.
It relates to a backup server on the backend.
Something I'm not worried about at the moment and will look into a some point.
I can see that you did connect successfully.
