I realize this is a problem with P3Dv4.2 and not JoinFS - just wondering if anyone else has experienced this.
With P3Dv4.2 , I am unable to install FSX-SP2-XPACK SimConnect from the folder:
C:\MYINSTALLFOLDER\redist\Interface\FSX-SP2-XPACK\retail\lib
I get the following error:
An error occurred during the installation of assembly
Microsoft Flight Simulator SimConnect, version = 10.0.61.259.0 type = win32 processor architecture=x86
public key token = 67c7c14424d61b5b
Thanks

Unable to install FSX-SP2-XPACK SimConnect with P3Dv4.2
Re: Unable to install FSX-SP2-XPACK SimConnect with P3Dv4.2
Hi Dave,
Have you tried running the .msi file as Administrator?
You could try an upload of my copy of the same install, http://pmem.uk/SimConnect.msi

Thanks - I will try that. Right now I am "stuck" because the Window Installer is stuck - I will reboot and try again.

OK, now it is listed as installed but I am suspicious because the Windows Installer Progress bar is stuck at 50% complete. (I did try running as Administrator). JoinFS still will not connect when the sim is up and running.

Thanks for the help!

Sounds as though it hasn't installed properly. In JoinFS, open View|Monitor. What does it say in there?

Re: Unable to install FSX-SP2-XPACK SimConnect with P3Dv4.2
Peter,
Thanks for the time you are taking on this!
You are correct - View says that it is not installed. I did a little cleaning up and rebooting - now when I try to install the simconnect.msi with run administrator (or not) - I get that error:
An error occurred during the installation of assembly
Microsoft Flight Simulator SimConnect, version = 10.0.61.259.0 type = win32 processor architecture=x86
public key token = 67c7c14424d61b5b
but instead on the Installer hanging, it pops up after the error dialog is "Okd" and cleans up and disappears without installing. BTW, none of the other simconnect.msi 's works either.
I entered this problem on your forum to see if any other P3Dv4.2 users were having the same problem. I have gotten the attention of Rob McCarthy at Lockheed-Martin on their forum to work this but no one has any ideas yet. I am running on an Intel 980X which runs all 64-bit stuff just fine.
I hope to get this working so I can fly in VR mode with others - should be fun!
Thanks again
Dave W. (I will let you know if I find a solution!)
