JFS on a second PC Moved from QUERIES

Post by Grumpy »

Greetings all.
An update on the "Coffeecup"
I spent yet another Pension on my experiment.
A nice 7.5 inch back-lit LCD screen and touchie feelie overlay. Very cheap too.
Cobbled up a wooden frame for it and attached it to my bank of monitors.
Found yet ANOTHER free monitor with a DVI input so resurrected a conversion cable HDMI > DVI, thus rendering the expense of $120 unnecessary.
Bugger....
HOWEVER!!!

Operationally, On bootup, the coffeecup runs JFS, Team-viewer and another useful tool
Because Dan is a cool dude, he told me about NO-IP, so on investigation and to cut all this crap short,
the utility from NO-IP runs, and converts my ever-changing IP address to flybywires.hopto.org
Just enter THAT instead of the IP and voila!! connection is done.
DUC, the utility that handles this, checks every 5 mins and updates if necessary.

I just wait until we get someone in our hub who is on my bookmarks and connect via his. very quickly, the aircraft list populates and all is transparently running.

So, Peter, all is well in the Bob-House again.
I have, effectively, a STATIC IP. Something that I would like, but refuse to add $15 a month to an already bloated bill that lurks around at $200 month now. Bastids.

All in all.
Its was well worth the approx cost of $200.00 to achieve this. Yes, we have unlimited access to Dans Hub, for which we are properly grateful, but we do want to grow our group and having our name out there helps

This is the single board computer about the size of a packet of cigarettes.
Very similar form factor to a Raspberry Pi-3 but runs win 10.

Excellent, Bob, I love it when a plan comes together.

That's an amazing system you have there, hope your fuse box is able to take it all. :)

As much as I like the Raspberry Pi, that little PC board looks perfect for Windows 10 with JoinFS.

Re: JFS on a second PC Moved from QUERIES RETIRED

Post by Grumpy »

The coffee pot has been retired, a cunning plan, so cunning that Blackadder would be envious of its duplicitous deviosness.

We now have a permanent IP and a server to run JFS on. Thus, dear readers, FlybyWires will show up in the Hub list FOREVER!!!
Sorry about that, we are not going away.

Now, what interesting thing can I do with a lattepanda running Win 10?
Tuchscreen, or mouse.
Built in Arduino
See picture.
If need be, I shall set it up as another Kodi device, for watching TV.
BUT, I would really like to re-purpose it as a flight sim addon.
