RT COMMS
Re: RT COMMS
Hi Mike,
Do you mean adding voice support to JoinFS? I hadn't planned to. Would this be much of an advantage? Once I solve the duplicate aircraft problem, you could fly on VATSIM/IVAO for proper RT control.

Re: RT COMMS
There are a couple of free voice (gaming) services out there
- Discord https://discordapp.com/
- GameVox https://www.gamevox.com/en/
Both work well, are easy to set up, display on a VA or Club Website and did I mention they're free! Just my opinion but adding comms to JoinFS isn't necessary. Other opinions may vary.

Re: RT COMMS
I agree with Martin.
FSX voice isn't the best anyway.
If it's the swapping frequencies when talking to controllers you miss then there are options available.

Re: RT COMMS
Our local group of pilots and I do not like Skype as it does have some hit on the internet connection however you mention other gaming chat systems but they are of no interest whatsoever.
Perhaps we are all a little old fashioned but the aircraft are fitted with radio communications and we would prefer to use that form of contact.
It also adds more realism to the multi-player flying in my opinion.
Kindest Regards, Mike.

Re: RT COMMS
If there's enough interest in it I will consider it, but it will be low down on the priority list as there's plenty of other things to add at the moment.
Thanks for your interest,
Peter

Re: RT COMMS
I have created a Plugin that allows you to auto switch channels in Teamspeak 3 when you tune your aircraft radio if that's of any help?

Re: RT COMMS
Now that is cool! I'd take a link to that if you'd pass it along. Can I add it as a download to my VA's web site with your permission and credit?ATC Roo wrote:I have created a Plugin that allows you to auto switch channels in Teamspeak 3 when you tune your aircraft radio if that's of any help?
Re: RT COMMS
The download links are in the post below.
http://msflights.net/forum/showthread.p ... adio-Stack
Feel free to use it, as thats why I created it no credit is needed.
I created the 32bit Plugin based on simconnect with lots of help from a chap at FSDeveloper.
The 64 bit Plugin uses FSUIPC (so needs that installed too) and was created by somebody else using the 32bit code I put together.
The 32bit Teamspeak client can be installed on a 64bit system.
Creating channels with 6 digit frequencies(123.450) works best.
If you set a name in the channel TTS settings (Denver Tower or simply tower) it will speak it when you switch, otherwise it will read back the frequency.

Re: RT COMMS
That is pretty cool ATC_Roo. I've downloaded it and sent it off to my ATC guys to see if they think we can use it.
Re: RT COMMS
Perhaps instead of Team Speak or Skype we should be looking at this simple software............. https://zello.com/app
Just a thought for discussion?
Cheers Mike.

Re: RT COMMS
Thanks, Mike, not heard of that one. Will take a further look.
Has anyone else used this?

I'm working on something at the moment Mike which I'm hoping to tie in with Peters JoinFS.
I'll see if I can get a beta version together shortly before expanding it.

Re: RT COMMS
Hi thanks for your fast reply. I have used Zello with other pilots for over 12 months and its very light on the PC and internet connection with true PTT operation as you would have in a real aircraft plus the audio quality is excellent.
Here is the link to Zello PTT App................. https://zello.com/app
OK on working on something with Peter sounds interesting.

Re: RT COMMS
We used Zello as an Intercom between IVAO Controllers on RFO Events, for example... but I can't see nice for flying.
As I said before, the best approach will be a TeamSpeak 3 Plugin which find the channel with the same name as your active COMM frequency and moves you there. Shouldn't be hard.

Re: RT COMMS
I recently came across "Discord" which seems to be popular with simmers and light on the PC and internet bandwidth.
