multiplayer auto follow function

Post by DCA996 »

Back in the old days when connecting using the standard FSX multiplayer function, it was possible to scroll through other pilots and then auto follow to them which placed your aircraft about 200 feet behind the selected other aircraft.

This function appears to have become defunct since thew normal multiplayer connection is unavailable.

For instance it does not seem to work when using FSDCopilot/FSINN.

The beauty of the function was that for ww2 missions involving gliders, using FSUIPC it was possible to program a switch to operate as an autofollow button and keep it active, and therefore if flying as a horsa glider it was possible to be 'towed' by the selected aircraft.
Once over the DZ it was possible to turn off the autofollow to simulate disconnecting the tow cable and then glidng down in spendid isolation to the LZ.

Will this function operate in JoinFS or can it be made to do so?

Hi,

yes, a follow feature using a physically simulated cable is currently on the to-do list. http://pmem.uk/joinfs/forum/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=4

Hopefully that will enable you to do what you've suggested.

Thanks,
Peter
