JoinFS does not recognize P3D

New to JoinFS
A friend is trying to join my Session. I can see my Session in HUBS and in the Aircraft list and in the Users List. So the Session appears to be in place and ready.

My friend was not able to join my session. Seems that his JoinFS does not recognize that his P3D is indeed running. We selected menu items as follows and got this message......

View - Scan for Models - You must first start simulator before scanning for models

Why is JoinFS unable to see P3D?
Would that prevent JoinFS from being fully set up and so explains why he does not see my session?

Seems like a bug they are not prepared to answer. I have asked similar questions.

Does your friend have the Xpack version of simconnect installed?

P3D does ship with it.
