Not really bugs, rather minor and whishes

Post by simskunkworks.com »

Hi Peter,
we at VAAFSE regularly tested JoinFS at least once a week with several players.
We had to say that is really nice piece of software, smooth and stable, however there are some issue that we cannot say if
are really bugs:
1. Port issue
We are working using port 5000 as default port number, local and remote, setting->Network->"Choose local port" enabled and setting 5000 as port number and bookmarking the server with port 5000 either.
We did this do not interfere with the concurrent P3D ran as multi-player server and since socket (6112-6122) cannot use by P3D in mp mode and JoinFS concurrently. Question: is this a correct setting ?
We have some issue:
a. not all players are seen by all, sometime we have to connect disconnect several time to have consistency, players with difficulties appear to have address/route different than 5000 even if both local port and bookmark port are correctly set.
b.It seems ATC frequencies are propagated only each status change, ie: setting/changing frequency, since our models use some ATC frequency ( COM1 STDBY, COM2, COM2 STDBY) to set external stores visibility tags it happens that if one loads storage before connecting does not see other stores.

2. Weather import
A great feature, importing someone's weather (ie: formation leader) is really cool, it should great to have same features also for FST (Flight Simulation Time)
TIA

Hi Mario,

1. Yes, your settings sounds correct. When you are not seeing other players, are you checking the pilot list to see if everyone is listed there? In the pilot list does everyone have Connected state as "Yes", or are there any with "No"? The best place to check first is the pilot list. If everyone is in the pilot list but you don't see some aircraft then it is likely to be a model matching problem. If there are people missing in the pilot list then it's a network problem.

It's perfectly reasonable to see differences in route and address values with different port numbers because it's only your server that is using 5000.

If you still have problems, try getting the players that can't be seen to use Port Forwarding on their routers, if possible.

If you are able to, could you PM me with a screenshot of the pilot list. I'll see if there is anything unusual on there.

There is a bug in version 1.0.21 which means that standby frequencies are not being sent correctly, this could be the problem that you are seeing. Check again with version 1.1 in January and see if that fixes it.

2. I just added that to the list. Yes, shared time is a great idea.

Best regards,
Peter
