It's Dan from US Central here, we were just wondering about something and we want your opinion. We seem only to be able to see aircraft using the same version of JoinFS, is this meant to happen?

Hi Dan,
yes, that's right. Generally speaking, a new version is likely to work with previous ones, as has been the case since the first version. However, sometimes, such as version 1.0.18 I think it was, the network data structures will change in such a way that the versions will be incompatible. Over time this should happen less as the code stabilizes. Sometime soon I'm hoping to make this more user friendly so that JoinFS will tell you when the network you are joining is using an incompatible version.
So, basically, at the moment try to make sure that you are connecting to others using the same version. Because the version updates are quite straight forward and JoinFS does ask you to get the latest, most of the time people are likely to be using the latest version. Obviously there are two distinct branches for test and stable versions, so just bear that in mind when connecting.
