Re: Share Cockpit Functionality

Thanks. Flight surface control by the PF (and maybe throttles) with (maybe throttle control), gear, radios, lights etc. taken care of by the PM. Excellent!

Re: Removed Node Error

Peter: I have been experiencing some unusual behavior of JoinFS and could not quite put my finger on the problem. I believe what is happening may be a similar issue to the Removed Node Error described here. I know you are working on this (the change log for Test v 1.1.5 did not mention a fix at this...

Re: Model Matching & Substitution

Peter: Thanks very much - hopefully this is not adding too much to your work. I believe that this will go a long way towards making JoinFS more acceptable to a broader audience. The idea of a adding a couple of categories to cover boats and ground vehicles as per @sgraypgh would round out the substi...

Re: Model Matching & Substitution

Peter: The flexibility for matching is great, but in some situations (e.g., the Christmas event) when there are many 'unmatched' aircraft it becomes a bit of a chore to go through many substitutions. Setting aside that any exact match already substitutes the correct aircraft (whatever logic you have...

Re: Share Cockpit Functionality

That would work - with the caveat that if someone accidentally bumped their yoke or throttle quadrant they may inadvertently assume axis control. This scenario: Pilot A is the PF but has the aircraft on autopilot (therefore no active input through Pilot A's controls) Pilot B's cat jumps into his lap...

Re: Share Cockpit Functionality

Will chime in here - This is a key feature for us. Very anxious to have control-sharing. Trading control of flight surfaces is one aspect. The ability to have another (or, potentially) more than one other do the systems control (radios, transponder, HSI / heading settings, flaps, gear, throttles, pr...

Re: Removing hub from hub list

? It then takes 60 days to drop off your hub list and it won't appear on the list of any new users. Perhaps the 60 days is too long, I might make it 7 or something like that. I agree that removing a hub after a period of time (shorter than 60 days) is a good idea. Seven days might be a bit short - ...

Re: Camera Tracking similar to Multiplayer?

This might be of interest - Multiplayer Camera Modification . There is a .pdf document that shows where to install this (there are two files - the modified camera.cfg file and a backup of the original camera.cfg file so unless you have modified the camera.cfg file you can overwrite the original as t...

I did not note if I could see the aircraft initially on the list. Will have to test that.

Re: Moving a Great Distance - Bug vs. Observation

Moving using the FSX menu item World | Go to Airport - so for example if I am at Miami (KMIA) and move to Wellington, NZ by selecting NZWN and appropriate gate or ramp parking then the other aircraft at NZWN do not appear (visually or on the View | Aircraft list).

Moving a Great Distance - Bug vs. Observation

Platform = FSX (combination of box and steam versions) I (and others) have noted on a few occasions that if you move your aircraft a great distance (several thousand NM - maybe less but we have seen this when moving ~ 6,000 NM or more) that the person who moves does not see other aircraft in the are...

Re: Crhistmas-event

A few aircraft did move around oddly. Most likely due to the quality of the network connection. In the current version if an aircraft stops getting updates temporarily it will continue on it's current velocity. Perhaps if this happens when taxiing, the aircraft should be halted instead. That may lo...

Re: Installing ver 14 and 20 simultaneously

Just so I am clear - for the Cross-Community Christmas event Roo will be running v1.0.21 only ... correct? But just to add my support to Bob's point - I think we should be pushing the latest version as hard as possible. The folks in my group understand that JoinFS is still in testing - beta phase, i...

Re: Upcoming Events

I was able to install and run both v14 and TEST v20 on my Win7 machine. But when I tried to do the same on my Win10 machine (using the same file folder structure to keep the Test and Stable versions separate) I get the message:

then the installer closes.

Re: Upcoming Events

Peter.

Thanks for the update. And thanks for letting us know that v20 will not connect to v14 - saves us a bit of testing.

Will continue to watch to see if there is a newer stable version.

And, thanks again for all your hard work and dedication.

Re: Upcoming Events

Roo - I see that your site still links us to the JoinFS version 1.0.14 (the stable version). Is that the one we should use? Or ... (and maybe this one is for Peter) - if we have the latest TEST version (1.0.19 as of this post unless Peter has slipped yet another one in on us while I was not looking,...

Re: Aircraft Substution Pitfalls

Thanks Peter. No big rush on that I would say - fairly straightforward to deal with once you recognize what the issue is. Doing a 'check scan' would certainly help ensure that this will not be an issue. Will watch for further updates - like some other things we do not see this as a big priority so s...

Aircraft Substution Pitfalls

We have identified an issue that has presented itself a few times to one pilot flying with a group and to the best of our knowledge this is due to use of aircraft for substitution of others' unmatched aircraft where these substitutions are no longer available (or, have not yet been made available du...
