Re: Home window displaying wrong Bookmark (1.4.34)
Yes they are both the same computer so the difference is in the port number. Thus the port number needs to be significant in joinFS's bookmarks and is not, I guess.

Home window displaying wrong Bookmark (1.4.34)
We used to run 2 copies of joinFS on our server, a stable one and a dev one. These were running simultaneously but used different port numbers. So in my Bookmarks I had Server (Test) Server (Stable) When I connect to Server (Stable) the Join field in the joinFS Home Window displayed Server (Test) ev...

1.4.17 silently dies
I've just tried to update my server with 1.4.17 and when I run it nothing happens, there's nothing in the Windows Event Logs to show an error and I'm failing to find any log files generated by joinFS to give a hint as to what's wrong. The computer is simply a server; there is no FSX, P3D or Xplane o...

Re: Connection Problems and port numbers
Following the suggestion here to use the Windscrbe VPN we now have a work around that seems to be reliable. Bit of a faff to have to use a VPN just for this but it does seem to resolve whatever the underlying routing/port problem is.
Thanks IMPACTMinistries360 for the idea.

Re: 1.4.8 Crashes with a FileNotFound error
Well that was rubbish! If I make the user window wider I see the last column is Simulator and it says Not Connected on 1.4.8.
So what's 1.4.8 Connected column telling me?

Re: 1.4.8 Crashes with a FileNotFound error
Something else to throw in here is 1.4.3 stable has a User Column called Simulator, this shows not connected.
1.4.8 has a connected column which shows Yes. If this is to the simulator it can't be as I don't have one installed.
Is this part of the same issue as needing SimConnect?

Re: 1.4.8 Crashes with a FileNotFound error
Ok I can confirm that it's a the SimConnect missing that makes a difference. I also installed the redist\FSX-SP2_Xpack from P3D and now 1.4.8 runs without crashing.
Thanks all.
Thanks all.

Re: 1.4.8 Crashes with a FileNotFound error
As i said this is on a server with no FS so I've not installed SimConnect on it. 1.4.3 works would you expect different behaviour here with 1.4.8?

Re: 1.4.8 Crashes with a FileNotFound error
Could you run the stable version. Enable logging to a file. Then run the test version. After it crashes, look at the log - current file and post the details, thanks. Done that, in fact turned on detailed logging too. File contains one line 03/02/2018 21:17:11.349 Started That's it I'm afraid. EDIT:...

Re: 1.4.8 Crashes with a FileNotFound error
Sadly no Show More button. Event Viewer essentially just has what I've already reported, the XML file includes data about Windows and the computer but no file names. The Event Viewer link to a file in ProgramData doesn't exist. I've just noticed that the report is made multiple times as if there are...

1.4.8 Crashes with a FileNotFound error
Just tried upgrading my server to 1.4.8 but when I run it the joinFS dialog appears briefly then Window's tells me it's stopped working. Event viewer reports Problem signature: P1: joinfs.exe P2: 1.0.0.0 P3: 5a704119 P4: JoinFS P5: 1.0.0.0 P6: 5a704119 P7: 11e P8: 1d P9: System.IO.FileNotFoundExcept...

Re: Connection Problems and port numbers
Sorry to bring this up again but I've just got back from visiting this problem system. He doesn't seem to be able to establish a stable connection to any server other than to ones I host at my house, as I said we're both on the same ISP although he is ADSL and I'm FTTC. I've tried Port Forwarding bu...

Re: Connection Problems and port numbers
But that's the problem, don't need him to host but he can't connect to the club's server and stay connected. I managed to get tracert done yesterday and his hops 2 and 3 don't return anything, timed out - no IP address. Once he gets passed that the numbers are similar to mine, we have he same ISP so...

Re: Connection Problems and port numbers
It was via the User's list that I was able to see the port numbers and when we specified a port it didn't end up using it. Still had one in the 40000 or 50000 range. The user is not competent enough to do port forwarding so that's not enabled in the router yet. Fortunately we live close to each othe...

Re: Connection Problems and port numbers
Ok my server was on all the time regardless of where we were testing to, I have separate port forwarding rules for my server and client (server on 6113, client on 6114). Other than that all users were on separate networks. The club server is a dedicated computer rented from a hosting company. Didn't...

Connection Problems and port numbers
Right this is going to get a little complicated. Tonight I've been trying to help one of our members connect to our club joinFS server. The problem was his Network button would go Green and he'd appear on screen in the SIM and be listed in Users and Aircraft, however under Users his connected column...

Re: New Feature Requests
I quite like the idea of a time sync, in the BFSG we specify a flight sim time that all pilots should have. Being able to sync all the times across all the pilots would be great. I guess the problem is who has the master time from which all others are synced. Can't easily use the server as we can't ...

Re: Small Request re Main Dialog
That would be my preference but I was reluctant to suggest it in case there are people out there who use the current method. They might then moan as I didPeter wrote: How about making 'Join' the default?
