Re: JoinFS 1.0.10 test.
Some of our instructors at MODsim had the chance to check out the shared-cockpit feature in more depth last night using v1.0.11 . It got a huge thumbs up from everybody ( I had a go too ) and it works really well. The chaps did request a "message" across the top of the screen or something ...

JoinFS 1.0.10 test.
Hi Peter, Last night we had a major test of the latest stable version of JoinFS. A few observations, some of them really excellent and surprising! First, the minor bugs; Some aircraft were visible on the network but simply couldn't be made to appear as their own models. For instance, I was taxiing w...

Re: JoinFS future.
Thanks Peter, I'll keep my fingers crossed regarding TacPack. One thought did cross my mind regarding the animations. Things like undercarriage and flaps appear to animate correctly, and are all single key-press functions in FSX ( G for undercarriage, F4 / F6 for flaps etc ). But exits and wing-swee...

JoinFS future.
Hi Peter, hope you're well! Just a couple of quick enquiries. MODsim voted almost unanimously to switch over to JoinFS over the weekend, due to it being such a great piece of software and providing such enormous leaps in stability over FSX Multiplayer. Only a few members dissented and only then over...

v1.0.4 test
HI Peter, We tested v1.0.4 tonight and came up with the following observations: The shared weather seems to cause an issue with some members. One player saw constant pauses in his FSX every ten seconds or so and reduced frame-rates - when he switched off weather matching the issues also disappeared....

Re: P3D and JoinFS 1.0.2-TEST
Hi Dean, Thanks for the update. It's great to hear that your club is enjoying using JoinFS and that it is serving its purpose well. I'll be interested to hear how you get on with 1.0.3 because it has some attempted fixes for the occasional connection problems. There still may be issues though, so i...

Re: P3D and JoinFS 1.0.2-TEST
Hi Peter, We conducted a full test using v1.0.2 on Friday night, and I'm pleased to report that with no less than eleven pilots connected and in close formation, we encountered no problems. Only one member could not see anybody, and having read recent posts I think it was due to us using a custom pa...

Re: P3D and JoinFS 1.0.2-TEST
Thanks for the update, Re: P3D. I was involved in a group flight last night and we experienced the P3D issue where he could see us, but not of us (FSX) could see him. So just to let you know, there is still an issue. However, I have found something in the JoinFS code that may be causing it. So I'll...

Re: P3D and JoinFS 1.0.2-TEST
Hi Peter, We had a great test this morning running JoinFS v1.0.2 on the server, everybody was able to connect easily. We experimented with multiple joins and leaves, changing aircraft, settings and all sorts. The network remained stable throughout. Peer2Peer was again exemplary, with three-aircraft ...

Re: P3D and JoinFS 1.0.2-TEST
Hi Peter, Just loaded JoinFS 1.0.2-TEST onto both my own computer and our VA's server. Joined successfully with both computers on FSX. I then loaded up P3D v3 and was again able to join the server and select models etc. I did get an unhandled exception warning on both occasions, but hitting "Co...

Amber network
Hi Peter, Tried to test with v1.0.1 tonight, nobody could connect with anybody else. Checked ports, all set as 6112 ( standard ). Tried everything; restarting FSX, JoinFS network creation etc. All routers open, models scanned, firewall exceptions set and we were all using FSX. We then tried 0.4.2 an...

First Test complete
Hi Peter, Four members of our military VA conducted a test last night using the standard version of JoinFS ( not the more recent TEST v1 ). In short, it was absolutely marvellous! It made standard FSX Multiplayer look ridiculous. Perfect P2P for all of us, and as an FYI we started up with TacPack an...

Re: Helicopters
Hi Dean, Solved and fixed (next version) Thanks, Peter Wow that was fast, awesome work! We'll start testing JoinFS probably next week at my VA - I'll let you know how it goes and if we find any bugs etc. Some people reckoned that TacPack would not work with JoinFS because it relies on some back-end...

Helicopters
I've read elsewhere that helicopters won't display using JoinFS. Is this true? Can't imagine so as they're SimObjects too?
Security
Hi Peter, just joined here from the FSX FlyInside forum. I have a question regarding security: is there a password option when joining a network? Our VA always operates using a regularly changed password and a private server to avoid being "gatecrashed" by other non-members. So far, I'm re...
