Re: SIMCOM X Voice application
Hi Roo Just to inform I-TEST joined this forum. Going online now cheers from Varese Hi Gian, Welcome to Peters JoinFS forums. It was nice to quickly speak earlier, your help was appreciated. Grazie mille. An update. I managed to find 30mins between a baby crying and a 6yr old asking what would happ...

Re: SIMCOM X Voice application
Thanks Tony. As I suspected when you posted the codec error. The good news (if any) is that you are both receiving the voice data, else you wouldn't have that error trying to play it. So it's narrowed it down and my silly mistake earlier has rectified 1 issue. My client is online at the moment whils...

Re: SIMCOM X Voice application
Thanks Tony.
I actually swaped the codec to see if that made a difference, obviously not.
I'm going to have to research that one.
To be honest, if it's doing that you probably won't hear any voice. Others should hear you though, providing they don't have the same error.

Re: SIMCOM X Voice application
Well after changing lots of code to do things different ways and lots of head scratching, as to why it works for me and not others..... I think I've just come across a very simple mistake. V3.0.0.11 should allow everyone to hear each other. If you can, great (although I'll still be annoyed with myse...

Re: SIMCOM X Voice application
Oooo excellent. A codec error. I'd not even looked at them.
Thanks Tony, leave it with me and I'll try to reproduce it.
I knew the self test was a good idea.

Re: SIMCOM X Voice application
In that case it maybe a good idea to write a small "server" program, which would solely hold a list of users. That would save a whole client being run. That would be at the back of the list though after the ATC client. I'm not sure why the config button is still throwing an error. It's pro...

Re: SIMCOM X Voice application
I can't see why it can't be run on a VPS that way. It doesn't need to be though. The group mode and SCX mode work exactly the same way. 1. User1 turns their Simcom X on. This starts listening on a specific UDP port. 2. A 2nd user opens Simcom X, let's call them User2. They enter the IP and Port of U...

Re: SIMCOM X Voice application
Thanks.
I thought of something earlier on and I've just managed to get 10mins to myself.
V3.0.0.6 "SHOULD" Allow voice.
There will be things not working like the RX light.
But you should be able to communicate?

Re: SIMCOM X Voice application
Thanks Tony. Obviously not what I wanted to hear as a voice app is a bit useless if you can't hear anyone. But still it's a good sign that everyone can see each other as that means everyone is connecting. You should be able to send text messages between each other, so that narrows it down a lot. The...

Re: SIMCOM X Voice application
It's basically built, but it uses the same background communications as this client.
Once this is working properly I'll update the ATC client with any changes I've made here and release it.

Re: SIMCOM X Voice application
I appreciate your help in testing it. They way I've written this version (version 3) is a totally different kettle of fish to the previous version and I don't think I'm allowing it to "loopback" as it where. I'll check later though as that might be a good way to prove a mic is working and ...

Re: SIMCOM X Voice application
I agree. All looks good
I've uploaded a newer version and I'm on it for the next 10mins.
One other thing I thought of is a couple of posts back regarding the windows mic setting.
I have a self test in the vccs which I might add to this client to prove the mic is working.

Re: SIMCOM X Voice application
Thanks dale.
I'm going through it and tidying up a few things now.
I've fixed the config issue.
And I'll release a new version once I'm happy with the rest shortly.
There is a log file in the Program Files(x86)/simcomx folder which may help shed light on any issues.

Re: SIMCOM X Voice application
Understood. I'll get rid of it next time I'm in that part of the code.
There's the sound options anyway if people like to have a mic click.
For now I've just uploaded a new version which should allow people to hear each other.

Re: SIMCOM X Voice application
The short RX static was unintended, but I decided to leave it as I thought it added a bit of realism to the RT.
I can remove it if people find it annoying?

Re: SIMCOM X Voice application
Hi Roo, The new version of SIMCOM X isn't really working for us. With 4 users connected earlier, each of us experienced freezing of SIMCOM X and also some error appears when pressing CONFIG (but only after connecting). We all managed to connect in SCX mode, and could see each other's transmissions ...

Re: ESJFS doesnt recognise my joinFS
It looks like you don't have simconnect installed.
I'm not sure why it's looking for simconnect when you've selected JoinFS. But it is.
I'll correct that at some point.
In the meantime.....
If you install the Xpack version of simconnect from this link, it will work.

Re: SIMCOM X Voice application
Hi Tony, I appreciate the feedback. The FSX autoswitch will work when I make it the release version with the installer. It'll probably be because it can't find the Simconnect.dll at the moment as we're running the app from the downloaded folder. As long as the app starts and you're able to talk to o...

Re: SIMCOM X Voice application
SIMCOM X V3. FIRSTLY IT'S NOT COMPATIBLE WITH ANY PREVIOUS VERSIONS! Works very much similar to the previous version. Key features... I've moved away from the TS3 SDK and it's now built using UDP sockets. This means there is no user limit (the old version had a 30 user limit in group mode). Most dat...
