Dotdash is down

Post by ATC Roo »

I'm not sure what's going on at the moment, but dotdash.space is down.

This will effect both the JoinFS Map and SIMCOM X.

It will be back asap.

There will also be a SIMCOM X update with added redundancy shortly.

An update...

I broke my hosting company by using too much of their resources.

Oops!

I'm in talks with them at the moment (they are very helpful) and everything should be back shortly.

This effects the map and the SCX mode of SIMCOM X only.
Group mode will still work in SCX.
Use roo.servebeer.com as a host (in the IP box) if you need one.

Oh. Must be from the link I added in the latest version.

Moving the installer file to an external location might help to reduce the bandwidth a lot. If you like, I could host it on pmem.uk. Or perhaps move it to something like Google Drive. That should have plenty of bandwidth.

Don't worry Peter it wasn't bandwidth (I have unlimited anyway).

It was how I was running the map.
I was generating too many processes which used up all of the CPU and didn't leave enough for anybody else of the shared hosting plan.

Basically I hogged the PC to myself.

Oops.

We are working on it now to stop it happening in future.

DotDash.space is back!

And SimCom X has an update which will get you back on the SCX network.

Give me time to sort the map, as I need to tweek it slightly so it's not so resource hungry.

A big thank you to the boys(and girls) at EcoHosting.co.uk
It's not a shameless plug, I've been tinkering with websites for years and never had the tech support or politeness of these fellas.

If you are looking for a webhosting provider for your group definately take a look at them.

P.S Sorry I broke your server. :?
