About Join Cockpit

Post by ASPA37 »

Hi guys. First is first... Great job with this awesome tool for the Flight Simulator community. Really helpful tool.

I was wondering about this lines in the development change log:

Version 1.0.11:
First phase of shared cockpit. Join any aircraft as a passenger. See 'View|Aircraft|Join Cockpit'

I see that option in my 1.0.12 version but it is grey.

I have selected one of the clients in the session but it is not active to use.

Can you explain me a little bit more about this feature and how it works please?

It would be great to have an "easy way" to share cockpits. We use to teach people to fly helicopters using P3D & FSX on multiplayer sessions but this can be a lot easier for the pilots and teachers.

Best regards.

Hi,

thanks for the comments, you're welcome.

The join cockpit should be working for you in 1.0.12.

Make sure that your simulator is running. Check that the Simulator indicator on the main JoinFS window is green. Open the aircraft view. Select the aircraft that you want to join so that the row in the table turns blue. You can't join your own aircaft, so the button will be disabled, but any of the other aircraft, that join button should become enabled.

If the above doesn't help. Then have a look at the menu, 'View|Monitor'. Are there any warnings or errors in there?

Let me know if it is still disabled, as it could be a bug.

Thanks,
Peter

Thanks for the quick answer Peter.

I will give you some more info about the situation:

Sim: Prepar3D 3.2
We tried to connect with standard Helos and standard airplanes.
Not working in both situations.

We did exactly what you said but it is not working for me and my friends.

The only messages that I have in the monitor are:
Simconnect exception: 1
Simconnect exception: 20

My friend was using a model that I wasn't have in my simulator so we switched to a standard one an no messages at all.

Let me know about the progress of this issue.

Many thanks for your work and help Peter.

Regards.

Those messages may be to do with the helos because there are still some systems that need synchronizing.

Are the other buttons enabled, Change Model and Follow?

This is really odd. If the Follow button is enabled then the Join must also be enabled, that's the way the code works.

Could you post a screenshot of the window, please? I just want to make sure the window isn't getting screwed up for some reason.

Here is the screen capture of one flight from this morning.

My airplane was selected from the list. Take a look at the mentioned buttons.

All the other traffics are from AI traffic.

Hi, Martin.

I'm fairly sure that you're running version 1.0.10 there. Have a look at the main JoinFS window. The version is shown in the bottom left.

Version 1.0.12 is available here, http://pmem.uk/joinfs/development.html.

Oh.. I see what's the problem.

I have downloaded the installer from "Install" section (http://pmem.uk/joinfs/install.html) which is giving me the installer file for 1.0.10 version

I will try with 1.0.12 from "Development" section tomorrow and I will reply with what I found.

Thanks you one more time Peter.

Ok Peter.

I just installed your last development version (1.0.13) and I can join to the other helicopter without problems.

Great :P

Now, we will test the shared helicopter about the flight control and switches.

I don't know if you designed something about take the control of the other plane or your idea is only to be a passenger in the other plane.

Let me know about it please.

Many thanks one more time Peter.

Hi Martin.

Great, indeed. I like it when things work.

I still need to go through the instruments and systems more thoroughly making sure they're synced up, probably more so in the helicopters, so don't be too surprised if something doesn't work yet.

It's passenger only at the moment, but I will definitely be doing multi-control at some point.

Sorry, I did not quite understand this post, and the googe translation is bad on this post. Is it possible
to share the cokpit with another player and how to proceed precisely.
Thank :)

For person A to enter person B's cockpit:

Person B opens the pilot list and ticks the Share Cockpit box for person A.
Person A opens the aircraft list, selects person B's aircraft and clicks the Enter Cockpit button.

To do a realistic sharing of the cockpit, person A needs to load the same aircraft as person B, otherwise they will remain in their own aircraft model, but still controlled by person B.

Thanks Peter, this principle is what we do in the 'multiplayer' menu of p3d or Fsx.
But in joinFs settings, I do not see any option for sharing cokpit !

There is no option in the settings.

On the menu bar of the main window, click on View and then Pilots. This will open the pilot list. Then click on View and Aircraft. This will open the aircraft list. Then follow the instructions in my previous post.

Let me know if you're still having problems.
