IP Address issue

Post by MacOnTheWeb »

Hi Peter,

Greetings from Another MODSim man here. I hope this post finds you well sir.

Noticed that since 1.1.5 and now (upgraded server this morning) 1.1.6 that when clicking in the 'My IP' Box, join FS crashes. The 'My IP' input field is also blank (No IP address propagating into field?)

I have noted that there are previous posts on the issue, but wanted to a) Make you aware that this is still an issue. and b) See what actions I could take to correct the issue seen?

I have clicked on 'create' and thus not causing the error, but JoinFF seems to fall over if the server is left in this state for more than 24 hrs.

Is there any way of allowing a manual 'user config edit' to state your WAN IP address?

If not, perhaps this could be a 'get out of jail free' option in the future? Perhaps check to see if a manual input in the 'user config' is present if answer=no then do lookups on the services you use?

Any feedback would be great, and appreciated.

I hope the observations/report above allow enough information to push forward with this great product :D

Best regards

Hi Mac,

The empty My IP crash will be fixed in 1.1.7. The box will only go empty if there is a problem checking your external IP address. This is done by looking at two different websites, so it should rarely happen, unless of course your PC wasn't connected to the internet when you ran JoinFS, that may cause it to go blank as well.

You can avoid the problem for now by simply not clicking in the box. The My IP address is only for your information anyway, it isn't used by JoinFS in any way so you don't need to specify it for anything to work.

Hope that helps,
Peter
