Re: SIMCOM X Voice application

It would have been my fault Dale (well at least my end).

The older version of SimCom X needs a server to run in order for everybody to connect.

When you power on Simcom X it looks for an accessible server (somebody who has forwarded the relevant port).

If nobody is found then it will use a server I have running.

I wasn't running my server over the past 24hrs.
So I assume nobody had forwarded any ports their end either?

The new version I'm trying to find time to finish will step away from the client server model and each user will connect directly to one another (P2P).

My server is back online now.

Yeah looks like this might be the case. We tried hosting a group session, it worked when I made it (others could connect and it worked fine) but didn't for anyone else (in fact someone's IP was a random string, rather than an IP - doubt that's related) - so I'm guessing ports hadn't been forwarded for the people who were trying to host.

But thanks for putting up the server. Do you know if it will be up on the evening of Sunday 10h July? We've got an event going on, so would be great to have that running if you're able.

Kind Regards,
Dale

Hi Roo,

Is the server down again? We can't seem to reach each other.

I run Xp 11.55 with SimCon X. Both XPMaster and SimCon X are running on the same PC.
SimCon X communicates with XP using FSUIPX/XPUIPC.
The communication between those two programs is successfully established; the SIm/Voice status buttons are green.
If I disable the XPUIPC within XP, the Simn status button in SimCon X turns red and back to green once I re-enable the XPUIPC plugin.
So my assumption is that there's a working connection between XP/XPUIPC plugin and SimCon X.
However, SimConX does not display the frequencies dialed in in COM1 and COM2.
I use XPUIPC version 2.0.5.9
The XPUIPC plugin says, no clients are connected.
Do I also have to run XPWideclient, even when both applications (XP and SimCon X) are running on the very same PC?
Any clues welcome!

Hi Friedhelm.
You assumption seems correct.
Have you selected the autoswitch in simcom x?
Does a squawk show in simcom x?

What does the log file say in program files(x86)/simcomx ?

And for anybody still interested in testing the newer version...

I've created Simcom X Alpha.
It can be installed alongside the current working simcom X (for those testing that want to keep Simcom X installed).
If it's good it will become the current Simcom X.

And as asked for earlier in this thread, I've also written a small group server in dotnet 6.
A group can run this for their users to have somewhere to go by default.
Whoever runs the group server MUST forward the Group Servers UDP port (7600 by default).

It's always best to forward a port for Simcom X anyway if you know how. But I have tried to add techniques to help those that aren't sure

As the Group Server is written with dotnet6, it can be run on windows, Mac and Linux(including raspberry pi).
I've tested on both windows and a pi and currently have it running if you wanted to test. Although it's not on 24/7.
IP slash.dotdash.space
Port 7600

Once simcom X Alpha is stable the VCCS will be released, promise.

As always feedback (good or bad) is needed in order to perfect things.

I've set Auto Switch to on.
The SimCon X logfiles confirms that a successful UIPC connection has been established to xplane.
That said, SimCon still does not show the frequencies dialed into COM1/COM2. I use the stock C172 with G1000.

Since attaching log.txt does not work here in the forum, I paste the relevant contents right into this message box:

That's the badger!

System.ArgumentOutOfRangeException: Der Wert des Parameters muss zwischen -90,0 und 90,0 liegen.

There are obviously regional language differences around the world.
Some use a decimal . for coordinates and some use a comma , .

I thought I'd mitigated against it, but it seems I haven't with UIPC.

I will try and find some time shortly to correct it.
In the meantime if you want to get it working ASAP, you can change regional differences in windows.

And thinking about it...
You might be better off trying the Alpha version, which I hope will be the main version shortly anyway.

I already gave the Alpha Version a try. Same behaviour.

One way to fix that problem within SImCon would be to add an option where you can specify a format string or something similar to adapt to such regional differences.

I successfully tested the suggested workaorund and set the decimal separator to '.'. SimCom now was able to retrieve the current COM settings.
I hope that the global change of the decimal separator is not affecting other stuff on the PC.

Thanks Friedhelm.

There is already a check for that situation.
I'll need to have a look at it and see why it's not doing what I told it too. It is a very simple fix and it'll be working in the next Alpha build shortly.

Hi Roo,

We just had a look at the Alpha version. It appears to be all working for us! Excuse me if it's already been noted but the desktop shortcut isn't working (just appears as a paper file).

Ah good stuff, Thanks Dale.
I noticed the shortcut too.
It seems to have the .exe missing from the target address if it annoys you, or you could just create a shortcut from the main program for now.
I'll try and remember to fix it in the installer, but if it's working that installer won't be needed anyway.

I'll start adding it all to the ATC client and get that out.

I'll leave the alpha version out for a bit, if there are no issues I'll make it the release with the lat lon fix Friedhelm noted and release the ATC client.

Please do let me know of any funny things you find so the release can be as stable as possible.

I'd also like to know how many people have been able to talk to each other, ie just 2 people online or were there more?

Hello everyone!

Been reading this for a while, and I´ve had some issues trying to use the software, It seems to work allright if someone host it and we connect using IP but if we try to connect using SCX server it won´t work. Also it isn´t showing COM 1 or COM 2 frecuency on either way.

Thanks for your time and sorry for the bad english!

Kind regards from Argentina :D

The coordinates bug should be fixed in the lastest Alpha build (0.0.0.3).
I'll stop building Alpha and leave it now, I just wanted to make sure it was fixed.

Sorry Agustin,
I don't know how I missed this post when I replied?

The good news is that you have connected to the SIM successfully.

Tick the box named Auto COM Switch.
That will show your frequencies.

There maybe an issue using the SCX server although I did see the callsign PUMA last night.

The newer Alpha version should be more stable. I would try that to see if it helps. It connects people in a totally different way.

Also have a look at the log to see if there are any errors.

Re: SIMCOM X Voice application

Post by ATC Roo »

And for anybody wanting to test that is having issues using scx mode, there are presently 2 Group servers running for test purposes.

Normal SimCom X Group server
IP: slash.dotdash.space
Port: 9988

Alpha SimCom X Group Server
IP: slash.dotdash.space
Port: 7600

The Alpha version may have issues communicating with more than 2 people on frequency.
I'm away for a week or so and I'll see what people have found issues with when I get back!

I installed the latest Nvidia GPU driver(v517.48). And now I am getting a popup(No sound device Set in config). And when I click ok. Its in my taskbar. But I cannot open it to desktop. I have tried to:

a. Minimize, then maximize it(no luck)
b. Right click in taskbar, then click move(no luck)
c. Went into process tree, and clicked bring to front(no luck)
d. Uninstall, remove from registry, reboot, reinstall(still no luck)

Any ideas???

Thx,
