JoinFS doesn't recognize P3Dv4

I'm posting on behalf of a friend of mine who doesn't speak English:

His computer specs:
- Windows 10, lastet updates
- MS .Net packages 2.0, 3,5, 4.7.1 successfully installed
- P3Dv41 on D:\Prepar3D v4
- JoinFS v 1.4.3, not installed on C:\ but a different drive.

His problem:
JoinFS doesn't recognize running P3Dv4.1.
When starting JoinFS no automatic aircraft scanning begins. When choosing "Scan For Models" a window opens saying "You must first start simulator before scanning for models."

Is there any help available, please?

Does he have SimConnect installed as per the System Requirements, http://pmem.uk/joinfs/manual.html

It may also be that he needs to click on the simulator button for it to re-connect.

- Sorry, do you mean just clicking the P3Dv4 link icon on the desktop again or running this again:
\Prepar3D v4\redist\interface\FSX-SP2-XPACK\retail\lib\SimConnect.msi

No. If he sees that the 'simulator' button on the main JoinFS window is red, he should be able to click that button and JoinFS will try to reconnect to the simulator.

Well, after pressing that the 'simulator' button on the main JoinFS window the light turns orange and a moment later to red again.
P3Dv4 is running, scanning for models still not possible.

Does he need to run "SimConnect.msi" again?

Yes, install SimConnect again. Then in JoinFS, select View|Monitor from the menu. That window shows a log of what is happening. Please post the log information here.

Make sure that after running the simconnect.msi you restart the pc to make it effective...

Sorry for jumping in but I have the same issue. Had to do a complete windows 10 64 install due to a windows update issue. Anyway, long time user & a donor of JoinFS, never experienced an issue - great program. Thanks much for information, after hours trying to resolve this issue, I shall try procedures above in the AM. Tks guys!!

Hi,

you probably need to go into the Control Panel and enable .NET Framework 3.5. And also make sure you have the correct SimConnect installed as well.

Up & running - thanks guys. Think my issue was caused by rolling computer back to restore point which did not include JoinFS.
