I am not able to start with JoinFS and Xplane

Post by gaijin50 »

Hi Peter, I'm a complete newbie to these tasks and English is NOT my native language, so I apologize for any mistakes I'm bound to make. I just discovered JoinFS and am not able to get it to work on XPlane 11.55. (my SO is Windows 10)
1.- I have downloaded the version of JoinFS (from https://joinfs.net/)
2.- I have installed the "JoinFS-XPLANE.msi"
3.- I have enabled port 6112 (UDP) on my router
4.- I have installed the file "vcredist_x64.exe"
I try to make it work and I can't
I start the simulator and open a flight
I run JoinFS and nothing happens, no JoinFS window appears, I don't see any apparent output.
What am I doing wrong?
Can you give me a hand?

Thanks in advance and sorry for the inconvenience

Hi,

Yes, this sounds like a bug that was put out last week. I have fixed it in 3.2.2 which I am going to release fully tomorrow. However, you can grab it now from https://joinfs.net/development.html. Just install this new version over the top of the current one. Please let me know if that works.

First of all, thank you very much for the quick response. I explain:
The version that I have already installed is 3.2.2 and this is the one that does NOT work.
We can do something?

Ok. Could you look at the folder <user>\AppData\Local\JoinFS.

Do you see any files in there? If there is a file called 'log-6112.txt', could you post the contents here, thanks.

The folder "user/Appdata/Local/JoinFS" does not exist

I have continued investigating and attached a .jpg with the information that the antivirus (Kaspersky Internet Security) gives me
As seen in the attached screenshot, the version of JoinFS is 3.2.1.0 (it is the one that I have been able to download from the link that you say in your answer).
I don't know if it's an error in my antivirus or it's NOT the correct version.

More details, I have downloaded the "JoinFS" again and I have seen that now it is version 3.2.2. My error was due to the fact that the file name was the same.
Now YES version 3.2.2 is installed and it seems to work, at least, it starts. I will continue to see if I am able to make it work correctly.
My apologies for my mistake and many, many thanks for your help.

Great news. Thanks for the updates. Relieved to know that the fix appears to work in 3.2.2. 8-)

Have fun,
Peter
