Could you try the next version 3.2.2? I am going to add something to try and track this particular issue down.

Thanks,

It's not available yet. It will be out in the next few days.

Hi Peter,
Same problem here.
I am using Windows 11 Pro, there have been a few updates including 21H2 which I installed, seems like a coincidence?

Which platform of JoinFS are you installing? Could you try out JoinFS-FSX because that is still on .NET Framework 2.0. Perhaps it is .NET related?

Install a previous version, e.g. 3.1.4, and then the new one. That should help, its a good workarround.

@Peter,
I tried to install the FSX version and it gave a warning that .NET Framework 2 was required, so I downloaded it from Microsoft and tried again and the FSX version did not run, tried FS2020 again and still dead.
/joe
BTW. I have the same problem on my Win 11 laptop which is on 21H2 as well. :/

Yeah that worked. I installed 3.1.4 followed by FS2020 3.2.1 (without uninstalling 3.1.4) and all appears to be running ok.
Thanks for the advice  ;)

OK, ditch the above, it ran once and seemed to leave a process running and wouldn't restart thereafter. Very curious.

Hi Joe,

two separate issues there. I think the FS2020 one I have just fixed so hopefully 3.2.2 will fix that.

To enable .NET Framework 2 you need just need to enable it via the control panel. Instructions are at the top of the manual, https://joinfs.net/manual.html

Ok, try 3.2.2 when it comes out. I will force the logs to be enabled in that one so hopefully you can check the AppData\Local\JoinFS log file.

I can't thank you enough for posting this. It has helped to catch a bug that was causing JoinFS to close as soon as it starts for anyone that was installing JoinFS for the first time.

My final 2 cents.
I have found with the 3.2.1 2020 version it takes approximately 70 seconds for the UI to appear and about 130 seconds (on my laptop) for the UI to become accessible then it seems ok.

That is a bit odd. It should appear immediately. Could you open the monitor window, click Record Logs. Then close JoinFS, restart and while it is waiting to appear keep opening AppData\Local\JoinFS\log-6112.txt to see what messages are appearing during this time.

Peter,
This a red herring and my fault  it's looking for the sim which is not on my laptop, I will try on my FS PC.
Thanks,

Joe
