Server vs Console

Hi

Thanks for this program. It make multiplayer and shared cockpit very easy.

I want to run JoinFS on a laptop with Windows 10 installed. This laptop will NOT have a simulator installed and will run 24/7 to allow any pilots at my VA to join. It also uses a DDNS (so they connect with a static domain name) and a dynamic update client (in case the IP address changes). There are pilots using various simulators.

Would it be better to install JoinFS-SERVER or JoinFS-CONSOLE (or one of the other versions) -- and why?
If either will work, which would be better?

Thanks

Hi,

you could use either. SERVER has a graphical user interface with windows, console just runs in a console window or as a background process. So the question is do you want to use the UI and interact with it that way? If so then use SERVER, otherwise use the CONSOLE. The CONSOLE will take up less system resources but these days with so much memory and power there's really not much difference whether it has a UI or not. They both do the same job.

Hope that helps,
Peter

Hi Peter

Thank you for your quick and through response. I think I will use SERVER as it has the familiar UI.

Cheers
